Tuesday marked the first day of Former President Trump’s impeachment trial. During the trial, Senate Democrats played a video recounting the trauma of the January 6th insurrection illustrating their case for convicting Trump. Another notable moment was a vote held to determine if the trial was constitutional or not. It was ruled constitutional with few GOP members supporting the trial.
Wednesday - February 10, 2021
On day two of former president Donald Trump's impeachment trial, previously unseen footage of the Capitol Riot was presented by Democrats within the Senate. The footage provides a new perspective as to just how dangerous the riots were, aiding Democrats in building their case against Trump. Also brought up were Trump's tweets inciting violence at the time of the riot, arguing that he is not just an innocent bystander to the situation. Trump has commented that he is “unsatisfied” with the work his lawyers are doing to defend him within this impeachment.

On Thursday, President Biden issued a proclamation to end the state of emergency at the southern border that was initiated by President Trump. President Trump declared this state of emergency in 2019 as a way to use more money than was approved by Congress. Biden said, “Like every nation, the United States has a right and a duty to secure its borders and protect its people against threats. But building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution.”

Today former President Donald Trump was acquitted within the Senate from his impeachment and will not face the consequences of inciting the riot at the Capitol. House Democrats were ten votes short of convicting Trump.
